“Plains Equipment rentals provided us with three small loaders for the past winter season. We needed the loaders on very short notice, and Plains came through. Throughout the winter there were service issues as with any equipment. Plains was quick to arrange repair, even on weekends. There were times that one of the machines was down waiting on parts, and Plains steeped up and made it right. Shawn was always available by phone when we needed him. Overall, we were very happy with the service provided.”

What are some of the factors that I should consider when selecting a Excavator?

Project Requirements: Assess your project’s specific needs, including the size of the excavations, and any special requirements, such as reach or depth limitations and if GPS software is required.

Size and Capacity: Choose an excavator size and capacity that aligns with the scale and scope of your project. Consider factors such as access constraints, working space, and the volume of material to be excavated.

Rental Duration: Determine the duration for which you’ll need the excavator. Rental rates often vary based on the rental period, so optimizing the rental duration can help minimize costs.

Availability: Ask for the availability of excavator rentals, Consider booking in advance, especially during peak construction seasons, to secure the necessary equipment.

Rental Rates: Get rental rates and terms specific to your job site to ensure you get the best value. Consider factors such as the hours needed per period and daily, weekly, monthly, or seasonal monthly rates.

Attachments and Accessories: Determine if any specific attachments or accessories are required for your project, such as specific buckets, hydraulic hammers, thumbs, or rippers.

Delivery and Pickup: Coordinate logistics for the rental excavator’s delivery and pickup to your project site. Confirm delivery times and site-specific requirements, such as access restrictions or permits.

Operator Training and Support: Ensure that operators are properly trained and familiar with operating the rental excavator. Our rental representatives offer operator training or support services to help you maximize productivity and safety.

Insurance Coverage: Ask about coverage for the equipment that is to be rented. Ensure that the coverage is adequate to protect against potential damages or liabilities during the rental period.

By considering these factors, you can select a rental excavator that meets your project needs while staying within budget and ensuring smooth operations on-site.
